RenaKare Gel
Potassium Gluconate
RenaKare Gel is an oral potassium gluconate supplement given in low blood potassium states in cats and dogs. Low blood potassium can occur from prolonged vomiting or diarrhea and can result in a serious condition. Kidney disease can also result in low potassium levels. Potassium is an essential electrolyte involved int he transmission of nerve impulses and muscle contraction.

Dosage:
Each 2.34 g (1/2
teaspoon) contains 2 mEq (468 mg) of potassium gluconate in a palatable base.
The suggested dosage of RenaKare Gel for adult cats and dogs is 2.34 g (1/2
teaspoon) per 10 lbs (4.5 kg) body weight twice daily. Dosage may be adjusted to
satisfy patient's need.
Administration:
RenaKare Gel is highly
palatable. To initiate interest in taste, place small amount on the animal's
nose or on the roof of its mouth. Gel may be placed on the paw after initial
interest has been established.
Warning:
Do not administer in
diseases where high potassium levels may be encountered, such as severe renal
insufficiency or adrenal insufficiency.
Precaution:
Use with caution in
the presence of cardiac disease, particularly in digitalized patients or in the
presence of renal disease.
Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian

room temperature 15°-30°C (59°-86°F).
