Enalapril is an angiotension-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Enalapril blocks an enzyme that is involved in the production of a substance that causes blood vessels to constrict. By blocking this enzyme, blood pressure lowers and the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart increases.
