Cetirizine Tablets
Cetrizine HCl is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as itchiness. It is relatively non-sedating antihistamine.
WHAT DOGS/CATS SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION?
- This medication should be used with caution and dosing often needs to be adjusted in animals with existing kidney and liver disease
- Animals that will require allergic skin testing in the near future
- Animals that require full alertness when performing - guide dogs, police dogs, rescue dogs
- Safety in breeding, pregnant, or nursing pets has not been established
DIRECTIONS:
- Give the exact amount prescribed and only as often as directed.
- Antihistamines work better if they are used prior to exposure to an allergen.
- Food can delay absorption of this mediation, it is ideal to give on an empty stomach.
- Ensure that your pet has access to fresh water.
- Give this medication for as long as your veterinarian directs. Do not skip doses or stop giving the medication without consulting your veterinarian.
- Dose adjustments may be made based upon an assessment of how your dog or cat is responding clinically.
- This medication should take effect within 1 to 2 days. You should see improvements in your pet’s clinical signs.
- Ideally, give medication at the same time(s) daily.
WHAT IF A DOSE IS MISSED?
If a dose is missed, give it as soon as you can. If it is time already for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the normal schedule. Do not give two doses at the same time.
